Being the provincial capital, Victoria, British Columbia has always focused on archiving our past. This gallery tour will take you through the province's largest gallery collection and some smaller galleries, for a complete perspective on BC art, past and present.
This Victoria galleries itinerary works rain or shine. You'll be spending a lot of time indoors, but as it does involve some walking, if the weather looks menacing, pick up an umbrella along Government Street.

(250) 383-5843 Arrive in the Inner Harbour. Walk four blocks south of the Parliament Buildings to 207 Government Street.
This is the birthplace of Emily Carr. No tour of BC Art would be complete without understanding the role she plays in the history of local art.

Walk off some of your lunch as you stroll through some smaller galleries.
Walk up Government Street, away from the Inner Harbour, one block to View Street. Turn right.
Walk one block to Broad Street. Turn Left. Walk to 1203 Broad Street.
Continue down Broad Street, stopping at these two galleries.

This restaurant offers an eclectic blend of foods. They don't take reservations. Give in your name and you await your turn on the sidewalk. The atmosphere breeds conversation between patrons, and you never know... the Manager may offer you a beverage to ease your wait. Well worth it.
